Notes
Mrs. Leslie S. Daly operated Argun Schipperkes in Rhode Island during the 1940s and 1950s, a formative period in the development of the breed in the United States. Although relatively small in size, the kennel produced a concentrated group of quality Schipperkes that contributed to the post-war expansion and stabilization of American bloodlines. Among the kennel's most notable dogs was AM CH Argun's Howie Boy O'Marward, the only documented champion carrying the Argun prefix and the kennel's most influential representative. Other important dogs included Argun's Sailor and Argun's Bonnie Lou, both members of the kennel's 1945 generation that helped carry the line forward through subsequent pedigrees. The Argun breeding program emphasized correct breed type, compact structure, and the distinctive harsh double coat that defines the Schipperke. Though active for a relatively short period, Argun remains an important historical kennel within early American Schipperke pedigrees and represents part of the breed's post-war foundation history in the northeastern United States.

Established in 1975, Chestara was a respected Schipperke kennel known for its dedication to preservation breeding, responsible stewardship of the breed, and decades of service to the Schipperke community. The kennel was founded by Bill and Beverly Henry and later joined by Sherry Henry Gill. The family's involvement with Schipperkes began in 1974 with the purchase of their first Schipperke, CH Karatchne Zeno of Harvalu. From that foundation, Chestara developed into one of the most recognizable and enduring kennel names in the breed, producing numerous AKC champions and quality breeding stock over the course of its history.
Notable dogs associated with the development of the Chestara breeding program include CH Karatchne Zeno of Harvalu, the family's first Schipperke; CH Land's Havoc of Harvalu, CD; CH Perkie's Piccolo Pete ROM; CH Clover Dell's Cutale; and CH Clover Dell's Briquette. CH Perkie's Piccolo Pete ROM, sired by CH Skipalong's Drum Major, and CH Clover Dell's Cutale both earned multiple group placements. CH Clover Dell's Briquette, also sired by CH Skipalong's Drum Major, was another important contributor to the program.
Among the kennel's notable homebred dogs are CH Chestara's Early Morning Rain ROM, a significant producer whose Register of Merit designation reflects her lasting impact on the breed; CH Chestara's Foxfire and CH Chestara's Whispering Wind, both important representatives of the kennel's formative years; CH Chestara's Devils Rain, which helped carry forward the successful 'Rain' family of dogs; and CH Chestara's Black Out Bingo and CH Chestara's Candle In The Wind, notable champions that helped bridge the kennel's historic foundation lines to later generations.
A memorable milestone in kennel history occurred at the 1978 Lone Star Schipperke Club Specialty when ten-year-old Sherry Henry handled CH Land's Havoc of Harvalu, CD, to Best of Breed.
Beyond breeding and exhibiting, the Henry family devoted decades of service to the Schipperke community. Beverly Henry has been active in the Schipperke Club of America since the 1970s and has served as President, Vice President, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, Membership Committee Chair, and in numerous other leadership positions. For many years, Beverly was the driving force behind the Schipperke Club of America's Policy & Procedure Manual, overseeing its development, maintenance, and continued refinement. Beverly was also a founding director of the Schipperke Club of America Rescue & Health Foundation.
Beverly has been a member of the Lone Star Schipperke Club since 1975 and has served in every office within the club. Sherry Henry Gill has likewise served in every club office during her years of participation.
As an AKC Breeder of Merit and retired breeder-judge, Beverly has dedicated her life to preserving, promoting, and protecting the Schipperke. Through breeding, education, mentorship, club leadership, health advocacy, rescue work, and historical stewardship, the Henry family and the Chestara kennel have left a lasting mark on the Schipperke breed.

Anne K. Smith
Notes
Anne K. Smith was a preservation breeder who operated the Knotty Knoll Schipperke kennel during the 1970s through the 1990s. Through a selective breeding program focused on correct breed type, sound structure, and temperament, she developed bloodlines that contributed to the growth and development of the Schipperke in North America. Knotty Knoll dogs were successful in conformation competition and became part of the foundation of numerous later breeding programs.
Among the kennel's most influential dogs was CH Knotty Knoll L'Erina ROM ('Lerna'), an important foundation bitch whose descendants helped shape future generations of Schipperkes. Knotty Knoll bloodlines became an important part of the foundation of several later breeding programs, including Krista Nuovo-Roe's Delamer kennel. Anne K. Smith's dedication to preserving the Schipperke during an important period of the breed's development helped secure Knotty Knoll's place in American Schipperke history.
